Parent Visa 103 Document Checklist

To support your application for the Parent Visa Subclass 103 and demonstrate that you meet the eligibility criteria, you will need to provide a range of documents. Please refer to the checklist below for detailed requirements.

Parent Visa 103 Checklist

For All Applicants:

  1. Identity Documents:
    • Passport
    • Birth certificate
    • Proof of name change (e.g., marriage or divorce certificate)
    • Evidence of any name changes, if applicable.
  2. Overseas Police Certificates:
    • Obtain certificates from every country where you have spent a total of 12 months or more in the last 10 years since turning 16.
    • Include any military service records or discharge papers if you have served in the armed forces.
  3. Passport Size Photographs:
    • Provide recent passport-sized photographs as per the required specifications.
  4. Medical Examinations:
    • Complete the necessary medical examinations as specified by the Department of Home Affairs.
  5. Withdrawal of Previous Applications:
    • If you have applied for a different parent visa with a pending decision, you must withdraw that application when applying for this visa.
  6. Sponsorship:
    • Your application must be sponsored using Form 40 (Sponsorship for Migration to Australia) by an eligible sponsor, unless you are applying as a retiree.
  7. Balance of Family Test:
    • Evidence showing how you are related to each child.
    • Proof of each child’s country of permanent residence.
    • Documentation indicating any child who should not be included in the balance of family test (e.g., a death certificate).
    • Note: The balance of family test does not apply if you are applying as a retiree.
  8. Assurance of Support:
    • You must provide an assurance of support when requested. This requirement is waived for retirees.

For the Primary Applicant: 9. Dependent Children Documentation:

  • For each dependent under 18 applying with you, provide:
    • Identity documents
    • Evidence of your relationship with them (e.g., birth or marriage certificate)
    • Character documents, if applicable.
  • Note: If applying as a retiree, you cannot include your children or your partner’s children.
  1. Dependent Child Requirements:
    • To be included in your application, a dependent child must be:
      • Under 18 years of age, or
      • Over 18 years but not yet 23 and financially dependent on you or your partner, or
      • Over 23 years and unable to support themselves due to physical or cognitive limitations.

For Sponsoring Partner: 11. Form 40 Sponsorship: – Complete Form 40 (Sponsorship for Migration to Australia) and submit this form along with all other necessary documents with the visa application.

  1. Proof of Eligibility:
    • Provide proof that you are a settled Australian citizen, permanent resident, or eligible New Zealand citizen related to the primary applicant.
