AGED PARENT VISA
The Aged Parent Visa is a replica of the Parent subclass 103 Visa, however, is suitable for applicants who are eligible for the Australia age pension.
This visa will allow you to live in Australia with your child permanently, provided they are an Australian citizen, a permanent resident, or are an eligible New Zealand citizen who is settled in Australia.
Aged Parent Visa (Subclass 804)
This is an ‘onshore’ visa application which generates a bridging-visa to stay-on in Australia.
The Aged Parent (Subclass 804) is a permanent visa that lets an aged parent of a settled Australian Citizen / Permanent Resident or eligible New Zealand citizen to gain permanent residency in Australia
VISA SUMMARY
This visa requires that you be sponsored by your child or another eligible sponsor in Australia. While this visa has the lowest application fee of all the Parent Visas, applicants must be prepared to wait in a queue for their visa to be processed as waiting times of up to 30 years for approval may apply.
WHO IS ELIGIBLE?
This visa is for you if you are an elderly parent of a child or stepchild who, at the time the visa application is lodged, is ‘settled’ and either an Australian citizen, permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen for at least two years.
In addition you must be able to demonstrate one of the following:
- at least half of your children are Australian citizens, Australian permanent residents or eligible New Zealand citizens who are usually resident in Australia
- you have more children living in Australia as Australian citizens, Australian permanent residents or eligible New Zealand citizens than in any other country
Your partner and other dependent family members may be included in your application provided they satisfy certain requirements.
VISA BENEFITS
This visa allows you, your accompanying partner and dependent family members to live as permanent residents in Australia.
You can also:
- work and study in Australia
- receive subsidized healthcare through Medicare and the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS)
- access certain social security payments (subject to waiting periods)
- be eligible to apply for Australian citizenship (subject to the residency eligibility criteria)
- sponsor people for permanent residence (subject to waiting periods)
